 JUNKANOOS KEY WEST

Caribbean Queen Junkanoos is an Afro-Caribbean processional band which can make a Parade on our own, or escort your groups from venue to venue. We are totally acoustical and portable and can go wherever you want!

We have a Moko Jumbie (stilt walker) and will also stop to perform African dance wherever on the route it is appropriate or on a stage at the beginning or end of the processional.

Junkanoos is a celebratory parade with African roots, which started in the Bahamas in the 17th century to preserve the African cultural traditions which were in danger of being lost in the displacement process of the slave trade. Spreading throughout the chain of islands Junkanoos is still performed today in some Caribbean islands, particularly in Nassau, Bahamas, and Key West, Florida. Caribbean Queen Junkanoos is a fabulously costumed trans-cultural expression of all the islands from Key West to Trinidad, which uses the traditional acoustical instruments of African drums, Nassau cowbells, conch horn, and whistles with Moko Jumbies.

This translates into a visually exciting, movable acoustical energy which can go anywhere you want.

Our exciting Caribbean Queen Junkanoos will delight and amaze all who see us and give them an experience which will never be forgotten. It's a Key West tradition.
